The innovative material use and product design of A-Fax Ltd's unique range of safety barrier products provide performance benefits and cost savings, in comparison to barriers made from more traditional materials which are common to all the individual products in the barrier product range.

These benefits and savings are due to both the material of manufacture and product assembly and installation.

All the barriers in the A-Fax product range are based on two designs. A three rail post and rail system, primarily for pedestrian protection and segregation and a low level single circular rail modular post and rail system, primarily for traffic segregation, traffic way delineation and equipment/structure protection. The performance of these two barrier designs under impact conditions is shown in the before and after picture sequences below.

Impact
After Impact
The high impact absorption, deflection and dissipation properties exhibited by A-Fax safety barriers is due to both the material of manufacture and the product design. Both of these factors are responsible for the inherent strength, performance benefits and cost savings provided by the barriers.

Under impact conditions, the assembled barrier and its components, rather than being left with surface damage, permanent distortion or broken, will 'flex' and bend before returning to their original shape and form on removal of the impact source. This significantly reduces the cost of repairing and replacing damaged barriers or barrier sections. Customer feedback has indicated that in many instances a plastic barrier will pay for itself by the savings made on repair/replacement costs alone.
Savings on installation costs are provided by the unique interlocking device (Pat. App. PCT/GB/000036) used in assembly of barrier components or sub-components. This allows assembly of all the available barrier products to be easily undertaken without the use of nuts, bolts, brackets or welding. The only mechanical work required for installation, as with any barrier, is the anchoring of the barrier posts. All necessary high quality floor fixing bolts required for installation are supplied as standard with all A-Fax barrier products. The bolts supplied are those recommended to provide maximum installation integrity and optimum barrier performance when correctly used following the instructions provided.
In many instances the initial purchase price of a plastic barrier can represent a saving of 40-50% compared to barriers manufactured from more tradional metal materials. In addition on-going maintenance costs are minimised as the plastic material from which the barriers are manufactured is easily cleaned, will not rust or rot, does not require painting and will not suffer damage due to extremes in enviromental conditions.

All barrier products are designed and developed to comply with relavant safety standards and regulations.
